Dan Quare No. 260 SOLD
An important late 17th century bracket clock by this eminent maker and in fine original state.
The dial with a finely engraved border and within two subsidiary dials for regulation and strike/ silent control to the top, further engraved decoration and gilt crown and scepter spandrels to the corners.
The matted center with fine hands, apertures for false pendulum and calendar, the makers signature, Dan Quare, engraved to a recessed silvered cartouche.
The quarter repeating movement with verge escapement and a finely engraved back plate also signed, Dan Quare, London.
The case standing on brass feet and surmounted by a classic "Quare" gilt brass carrying handle.
