A very rare English early 18th century George I green and gilt japanned quarter repeating table clock of important size and in untouched and original condition. The case decorated overall with raised gilt chinoiserie landscapes and foliage, the inverted bell top with pierced wood fretwork flanked by giltwood urn finials, scroll volutes to the angles and gilt-brass carrying handles over the fretted side panels. The 8 inch dial signed, Windmills, London, to the matted centre, the arch with a calendar dial with a typical pierced star to the centre. The six pillared movement with verge escapement and pull quarter repeat on a nest of six bells.
